Mid year fruit tree and berry trimming

Now is a good time to shape the apricot trees and soon the peaches.

Apricots

  1. This way it is easy to see the dead wood that should be cleaned out.
  2. Unwieldy branches can be tamed.
  3. Growth this year will bear fruit next year.
  4. Bring the height down so fruit is in picking distance range. Trim and thin out some of the over extended branches.

Peaches

  1. Should just be shaped back where unwieldy and cut more extensively in January. There is a short time in the North San Gabriel Valley when trees are dormant. Then they can be sprayed as well.

Boysenberries
  1. Cut the spent cane to the ground. Feed to encourage new canes.
